Lekunas named Betsafe LKL Player of the Month

Pieno Zvaigzdes forward Tomas Lekunas followed up his Betsafe LKL Player of the Week honors with the monthly MVP award for January after leading the Pasvalys club to a perfect month.

The player enjoyed the best month of his career in the domestic top flight, averaging 16.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, as Pieno Zvaigzdes climbed to an 11-9 mark after registering four wins in a row.

"I think I'm playing the most mature basketball of my career," said Lekunas. "I have played under a lot of different coaches, gained experience and have learned to be more even-keeled."

He was joined on the Team of the Week by the Dzukija duo of Dominykas Domarkas and Paulius Petrilevicius, Nate Wolters of Zalgiris and Juventus center Martinas Geben.
